Now 48, country star Luke Bryan wants to be known for more than just party anthems, a goal reflected in his eighth studio album Mind of a Country Boy.
Released September 27, the album features personal songs about marriage and family.
They include “For the Kids” and “Pair of Boots,” a song about fatherhood inspired by Bryan’s teenaged sons Bo and Tate. “I think it reflects where I’m at in life. I’ve had the party songs throughout my life and when I look at my career, I’ve put out the music I’ve always wanted to and this is the music I want out now,” Bryan told Billboard.
Bryan said he recorded 18 songs for the project before ultimately settling on the final track listing.
A number of Nashville’s top songwriters contributed to the album, including Rhett Akins, Chase McGill, and Hillary Lindsey.

Luke Bryan was born Thomas Luther Bryan in Leesburg, Georgia, on July 17, He grew up as the youngest son of a farmer.
Always interested in music, Bryan was raised on his parents’ record collection, which included country artists such as George Strait, Conway Twitty, and Merle Haggard. When he was just 19 and ready for his big move to Nashville, Tennessee, his world was rocked when his older brother, Chris, was killed in a car accident. Following his brother’s death, Luke put his Nashville dreams on hold and continued his education at Georgia Southern University to be close to his family.
